River Roots "Lava Lips'

Nose | An immensely rich and buttery opening of mature oak and lush caramel sets the stage, quickly joined by dark cherry, chocolate, and spiced caramel. Notes of vanilla—reminiscent of high-end vanilla bean ice cream—are draped in caramel sauce and lightly torched, evoking crème brûlée and charred marshmallow. Baking spices of allspice and nutmeg emerge beneath the sweetness, alongside leather and charred oak. On a deeper inhale, subtle floral and herbal accents of honeysuckle, dill, and parsley appear, followed by a zesty rye spice that hints unmistakably at its high proof.

Palate | The palate unfolds slowly and deliberately, delivering a classic yet deeply layered bourbon experience. Jammy strawberry and raspberry mingle with flat cola, honeyed sweetness, and vanilla cream. Toasted and charred cherrywood, brown sugar, molasses, and leather add weight and maturity, while rye spice, clove, cinnamon, and allspice provide structure and lift. A caramel drizzle weaves through the mid-palate, complemented by floral spice, rye bread, and deeply aged oak.

Finish | Medium to long, the finish builds a gentle, warming heat that crests near the end. Spiced oak, cinnamon, walnuts, and toasted buckwheat merge with echoes of cherry cola and charred oak. Sugary leather and lingering spice remain on the palate as the oak softens into a sweet, satisfying close.

Conclusion | A complex, dusty, and well-balanced bourbon that showcases maturity without excess—rich, expressive, and confidently structured, with both classic character and nuanced depth.
